Knights of Malta

The Knights of St John have had a great influence on the Maltese culture and history. To trace their steps, your guided tour will start in the three cities, Senglea, Cospicua and Vittoriosa (Birgu) where the Knight’s originally made their home.

Visit Fort St Angelo, and understand their military engineering and architectural enforcements.

After the Great Siege of 1565, the Knight’s built the baroque fortified city of Valletta. Here is where one can visit the Sacra Infermeria, which was the leading hospital of the time in Europe.

Protection and aid were not the only contributions the Knight’s had to Malta, they also put enfaces in the importance of art, sculptures, gold, silver and furniture. A lot of which has remained in Malta in various establishments.
